Crafty Pursuits
In the past couple of months I have taken up some new extra-curricular activities. As craft hobbies go, I already knit and bake. My craft obsession may bankrupt me, especially the baking one.
Since moving back to London and turning 37, I haven’t gone crazy and started clubbing and going to bars every night in some last-ditch attempt to recapture my younger London days. I have suddenly got back into my craft hobbies with a vengeance. Everything else seems to take second place. I get a sense of joy in setting myself small challenges to make things and then seeing them completed. There are craft groups and clubs popping up all over London. It feels like there is an urban version of the W.I.
Yesterday was no different. I spent the afternoon with the CREATE London Meetup. I have made my own face masks and exfoliators for years with stuff from the kitchen, but I had never tried making organic moisturiser or perfume. I was surprised by how easy and quick it was to create the moisturiser. We just used beeswax, grapeseed oil and rosewater as a base. After that added essential oils. I chose palmarosa and jasmine.
My next project is a dressmaking one. I have to make a dress form first, but I am hoping to start that within the next week or so.
